Jornada Experimental Range, Creosote-sand site, Dona Ana Co., New Mexico, USA.    32° 30.955'N latitude, 106° 47.338' W longitude, elevation 4190 ft.  Very sparsely crusted area just downslope of the study site.  Date of sampling:  17 July 1998.

Dominant vascular plants at site:  Larrea tridentata, Fluff grass

Mean thickness of algal crust: 4.75 mm
Mean thickness of lichen crust:  15 mm

Jornada Experimental Range, Dona Ana Co., New Mexico, USA.  Upslope from JO1, 32° 30.844'N, 106° 48.075'W, elevation 4440 ft.. A Black gramma grassland just below the steep rocky mountain. Site called Summerfield Grassland site (G-SUM).  This is essentially an uncrusted site, but some soil lichens and mosses near junction of bajada and steep rocky slope.  Soil not sampled.
